Make sure to bring sturdy boots for this tour, as you'll be hiking through some rugged, but very rewarding terrain. You'll get to explore the Sierra Maestra Mountains and visit Fidel Castro’s revolutionary headquarters, where even the radio stations and infirmary have been preserved. As you hike through these now peaceful landscapes you can imagine them as they once were, full of revolutionary soldiers who were passionate about overthrowing the old regime.

Itinerary
Welcome to Holguin! You will arrive at the international airport in Holguin. We can arrange a transfer to the hotel for you (optional) or you can organise transportation yourself.

Hotel in Holguin, 3* Standard Today the bus will bring you to the charming town of Bayamo, which is located at the base of the Sierra Maestra mountain range. After a short guided tour through the city you will head to the Sierra Maestra, where you will begin your first hike. From the Alto de Naranja you will follow the same path as Cuban revolutionaries, to the Comandancia de la Plata, the former headquarters of Fidel Castro.

Camping in Huts / Tents Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Today you will embark on the most demanding, but most rewarding, leg of your hiking trip. Today you will ascend Cuba’s highest mountain (1.974m). The hike will bring you through a variety of beautiful natural landscapes. Take a break at the top while you take in the stunning panoramic views, then hike back down to Aguada de Joaqin. From here the bus will take you to the charming Hotel El Salton. Hike: approx. 8-9 hours (Hard)
