History of Nha Trang
The Cham’s large population began to decline when the Vietnamese people started battling for supremacy in 1446. For centuries a war was fought until eventually the Vietnamese revolt was defeated but not before causing severe damage to the Cham population. In 1832, the area was annexed by Emperor Minh Mang and today only 77,000 Cham people remain.
Tourist attractions in and around Nha Trang
Nha Trang is a famous tourist destination and has been for quite some time but one of the other main attractions in the area is undeniably the Whale Island. While the Whale Island is home to a single resort, the island boasts breathtaking beaches, a sheltered bay and incredible opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking and wind-surfing. Until a few years ago the island was also known for its whale and whale shark sightings which have unfortunately become very rare.
