Lima is home to many fantastic monuments: the Peruvian Government Palace, a grandiose cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace with elaborately carved balconies and the bright yellow Town Hall. Furthermore, the Plaza de Armas is found in its center with a beautifully decorated bronze fountain. This very underrated city has so much history and sights to see and explore. Between its modern buildings and residences, you'll find a pyramidal temple dating back to 200-700 AD! And not only is Lima great for sightseeing, but its cuisine is also exquisite. Enjoy the famous ceviche, raw fish marinated in lemon juice and spices, with sweet corn and sweet potatoes. Here, there is so much to appreciate!

Itinerary

Upon your arrival, we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. This first evening is yours to relax or start discovering the wonderful city of Lima. We recommend strolling through the historic old town, enjoying a light and fountain show in the Paque de la Reserva, and the chic quarter of Miraflores or the wilder quarter of Barranco. And of course along with all the sights to see, there is a great selection of regional culinary specialties. Try the papas a la huancaína: potatoes and eggs topped with a delicious special sauce made of cream cheese, milk, ají amarillo and savory biscuits. Today you'll have the chance to journey through time with our guided city tour of Lima! We guide you through the streets of Lima's old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991. Along with that, you'll visit city's stunning cathedral and the Santo Domingo monastary. Furthermore, you'll be able to see more ancient sites as the Incas once resided in this area. Visit the ancient pyramids of adobe, built long before Machu Picchu. After this tour, you'll have the rest of the day at your disposal.       If you're wanting to ensure that you never have to miss the Peruvian cuisine you're enjoying, be sure to take this class and learn the tricks! Here you'll learn a few recipes for a delicious meal. Of course, a great meal requires great ingredients so this class will start with a fun trip to the market. Stroll past numerous stalls, and taste the fresh, local fruit and learn about typical ingredients that you'll later learn to use in your dishes.
