The history of the Inle Lake
The Inle Lake has a total surface area of approximately 116 square kilometres and is located in the Nyaungshwe Area of Shan State. The lake is a Polymictic, fresh water lake which is near the Shan Hills. Not only is the Inle Lake the second largest lake in Myanmar but it is also the home to over nine fish species which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. With a large number of fish, bird and even snail species, the lake is alive with nature.
Along with the Inle Lake, the Shan Hills and the marshlands nearby there is also a hot spring near the north western shore.
