El Calafate Mini Trip
In the south of Patagonia in an extremely remote area at the foot of the Andes, is the town of El Calafate. Also located at the gateway of the Los Glaciares National Park, offering an impressive natural spectacle. As its Spanish name suggests, this region is traversed by numerous glaciers, including the largest and most famous, Perito Moreno Glacier. This region is also known for its blackberries, so be sure to try one of the culinary specialites of El Cafate: lamb with a rich blueberry sauce.
Pack warm clothing because you'll experience a cold climate here, as La Calafate is located directly on the shore of Lago Argentino. Don't let its cooler temperatures turn you off though, for there are breathtaking views to be enjoyed here. After arriving at the hotel, feel free to rest or take a stroll and start experiencing the town. The main street, San Marin, is lined with many bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, so it's a great starting point for any traveler. For dinner, we recommend trying a typical local restaurant and ordering a popular lamb steak with a glass of Pinot Noir. A true delight!
