El Chalten Mini Trip
Explore El Chalten on the Argentine-Chilean border! Surrounded by a National Park, this place is the perfect starting point for hikes to the Fitz Roy mountain. The locals named this mountain region, El Chalten, which directly translates to "Smoking Mountain," due to the accumulation of clouds at its peaks. So embark into the beechwood forest and up to the viewpoints to marvel at Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.
El Chalten is located on the border of Chile and is one of the newest destinations in Argentine tourism. After a three-hour bus ride, you'll arrive at the hotel and use your evening as you wish. Feel free to stay in and rest, or start exploring the town. As there's only one road in town, it's easy to find all the shops and restaurants. As it's typically windy and cold in El Chalten, we would recommend tasting the local soup, Locro. This, along with a beer brewed with the local mountain water - a unique experience for any beer connoisseur.
