Montevideo - Custom Package

What to expect... Though it shares a coast along the Rio de La Plata with Buenos Aires, the town of Montevideo is a much smaller and quieter destination spot. Perfectly combining culture and relaxation, Montevideo offers something for everyone. Both its beautiful, narrow streets and the beach promenade “La Rambla” provide a great atmosphere for a stroll during the day or in the evening. Charming cafes, pubs and a good steak restaurant can also be found when you need a break from sightseeing and souvenir shopping. Of course, you can also use your time to relax in the sun and sand at one of the various beaches, or watch a tango show in the old town.

Itinerary

After arriving in the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, you will be taken to your accommodation. From there, you’ll be able to easily explore the city. Be sure to check out the main street, Avenida 18 de Julio, lined with cute cafes, souvenir shops, and restaurants. Couples wishing to leave a romantic memento can also add a ‘love lock’ to the Fuente de los Candados or, “lock fountain,” also located on the Avenida 18 de Julio. Another great destination off of this main street is the Plaza de la Independencia at Puerta de la Ciudadela, which separates the old and new districts of Montevideo. 20 minutes from there is the Mercado del Puerto. There you’ll be able to enjoy a sandwich-style Chivito and a glass of wine, Medio y Medio, both specialties of Uruguay. Unterkunft im 3* Hotel Urban Express* *or similar
Fill up on a hearty breakfast before you are picked up for the city sightseeing tour. Some of the tour attractions include the Independence Square, Torre Ejecutiva, Palacio Salvo, theater Solís, the Palacio Legislativo and the Obelisco a los Constituyentes. The tour will stop in the Mercado del Puerto and the Mercado Agrícola, allowing you to buy local specialties. From there, the tour goes to the other end of Montevideo, where you’ll find the sandy and beautiful Pocitos beach. And for big football fans, a long stop at the football stadium will be a highlight as it was one of three venues where the first World Cup in 1930 was hosted. Finally, the tour will end with the option to be dropped off at the Punta Carretas Mall or to your hotel, to rest and recoup.
