Itinerary

Welcome to Delhi! You'll have time to explore the city today and tomorrow. Travellers can use this time to adjust to the time zone, explore, and start experiencing the sites, smells, and sounds of a completely different culture. Delhi is a true center for Indian business and culture. The capital is divided into Old Delhi and New Delhi and the two come together to form a unique and timeless metropolis. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today you can go it alone. Old Delhi is an eclectic mix of colourful bazars, compelling monuments, and old-world architecture. It is in this part of the city that you'll find some of the oldest and most beautiful monuments including the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid mosque. In New Delhi you'll find long, wide streets, parks and many monuments that tell a story of the city's more recent past. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
The first stage of the journey will take you to Nawalgarh in the Shekhawati region, which is famous for its diverse population and pretty, traditional houses. From 1471 to 1738 Shekhawati was an independent state. The old caravan route that connected the Gujarat ports and Delhi ran through here so there are also many magnificent old houses in addition to the smaller, traditional cottages. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today you have time to explore the region on your own or book an optional excursion. Many of the Havelis in the region are occupied by "guards" and their families, because the owner moved to bigger cities for example Delhi.  Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today's destination is Bikaner. Here you'll find many fortresses, palaces, and public buildings built of the iconic pink-red sandstone. Camels still pull wagons through the streets along the market road which leads to the imposing Junagarh Fort. Once you arrive, you can spend the rest of the day exploring the city or relaxing – it’s up to you. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
The next leg of your journey takes you through the desert to Jaisalmer, regarded as India's most beautiful walled city. You are sure to find yourself fascinated by the fortifications, skillfully-built havelis (mansions), peaceful temples, and energetic city life. Those of you who are feeling adventurous can go ATVing in the desert on a 4x4, where graceful antelopes live among the dunes. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today you have the whole day in Jaisalmer to do as you please. You should definitely take a stroll to admire the local havelis (mansions). One of the prettiest is the Patwan Haveli with its beautiful façade. The Salim Slingh and Nathmal havelis are also quite lovely. All three are within walking distance of the city walls. Explore the 99 towers of the Jaisalmer Fort, take a trip to the Jain temple, or go on one of the many excursions available to the surrounding area. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today you'll reach the walled city of Jodhpur, known as the gateway to the Thar Desert. The skyline is dominated by the huge fortress built on a hill in the center of the town. From here you'll have a spectacular view of the city’s blue painted houses which give Jodhpur its nickname - the ‘Blue City'. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Spend the 9th day as you like. Fascinating local sites include the Mehrangarh Fort and the Umaid Bhavon Palace. The latter was completed in 1943, shortly before the Maharaja had to give up their power. Afterwards the palace was turned into a luxury hotel. Jodhpur has a particularly fascinating market which is known for antiques and it is a great place to buy souvenirs! Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today we continue to Kumbhalgarh. If you like, you can visit the fort of Kumbhalgarh which was constructed in the 15th century. The complex has a lenght of more than 36 kilometers and contains several palaces, temples and beautiful gardens. During a visit to the fort you can enjoy impressive views of the surrounding landscape. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
We continue towards Ranakhpur. You can either take the bus or join a hike through the Indian landscapes (only possible between October and June, duration approx. 5 hours). Once we arrive in Ranakhpur, we visit the famous Chaumukh Temple, one of the most beautiful temples in India. Here you'll find incredibly detailed masonry work and the 1444 unique columns which give the temple its reputation. The complex dates back to the 15th century. The final destination for today is the city of Udaipur. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Udaipur was built around some artificial lakes. In the city there are numerous palaces, havelis, parks, and gardens. The Lake Palace, one of the best hotels in the world, is located right here in the middle of Lake Pichola. There is so much to see that you can wander for hours without getting bored. Attractions include the Jagdish Temple, Eklingji or the Jain temples in Nagda. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
After a seven-hour bus ride you'll arrive in the pleasant town of Pushkar. The last part of the ride takes you through the spectacular area of Nag Pahar (Snake Mountain). The town is built around the sacred lake. The serene and important Brahma temple can also be found here. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Early in the morning we'll leave Pushkar and head to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known colloquially as the 'pink city'.  To the north, the city is surrounded by hills that are dotted with forts and palaces. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Spend the whole day exploring the magical city of Jaipur. About seven miles northeast of the city is the famous Amber Fort. The Amber Fort was the capital of the region for nearly 600 years. In the fort, there are many statues and mosaics to be admired and the views are spectacular. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today’s schedule includes a compelling trip to Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted city of Emperor Akbar, which is located just outside of Agra. You'll arrive in Agra in the late afternoon or evening. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Today you should take advantage of your time in Agra by visiting the magnificent Taj Mahal and the lofty Red Fort. We also recommend at least a brief stroll through the local bazaar. In the evening you'll take the night train to Varanasi, the holiest city in India. Your destination is spectacular but the train ride itself is certainly a worthwhile experience. Unterkunft im Night Train
Varanasi is a chaotic, bustling city. Buffalo cow and sacred cows can be found wandering freely in the streets. Outside of the city center, however, you'll find the heart and soul of the city: Mother Ganges, the holy river, where locals wash away their sins and where thousands of people scatter the ashes of the deceased and burn candles to commemorate the dead.  The river extends over seven miles and is one of the most spectacular sites in all of India. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
There are no scheduled activities today so you can once again spend it at your own pace. We recommend an excursion to Sarnath, a Buddhist holy place nearby. The Chinese, Japanese and Thai temples in this area are particularly worth visiting. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
Spend the day strolling through the streets of Varanasi and enjoy the atmosphere, or relax in a restaurant or cafe. In the evening, take the night train back to Delhi. The journey usually takes about twelve hours. Unterkunft im Night Train
The last day of your Rajasthan tour has begun. In the morning you'll arrive back in Delhi and can use the time before your flight home to see more of this fascinating city. Your return flight will either be this evening or the following day. Unterkunft im Overnight Accommodation
If you haven’t already departed, your flight home will be today. We wish you a pleasant journey and we are sure that you'll be taking many fond memories home with you! If you would like to extend your trip, our friendly staff are more than happy to help you do so!
