Itinerary
Today you have time to explore the city on your own. Many of the attractions are concentrated in the historic city center. Visit some spectacular colonial architecture and some of Mexico’s most compelling museums. We recommend you the Plaza de la Constitución, also called Zocalo, the National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Templo Mayor. Just a few blocks away you can enjoy some delicious street food and listen to live mariachi music in the Plaza Garibaldi.
4* Hotel in Mexico-City BreakfastMeet your guide at 8:00 am at the hotellobby. Today you will see the most important places of Mexico City. Then we will travel to the picturesque little town of Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza, also called Puebla de los Ángeles. The city was founded by Spanish colonists in 1531 and built around the indigenous sovereign territories of Tlaxcala, Cholula and Cuauhtinchan. After a city tour you will enjoy Puebla's famous food (not included).

The historical centre of the city, influenced by the Spanish colonial style, is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage since 1987. Local people meet at the Zocalo where you can find numerous restaurants and cafés. Oaxacan cuisine is known as one of the most delicious and diverse in all of Mexico. On your stroll through Oaxaca’s world-famous markets you will pass colorful displays of fruits and vegetables. Try the traditional mole or even grilled grasshoppers, the Chapulines.
4* Hotel in Oaxaca BreakfastToday you will visit the archaelogical site of Monte Albán. The former capital of the Zapotecs was also declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. You see the old residential buildings, gravesites and wall painting from the 8th century BC. From the site you have the most beautiful view on the landscape.
4* Hotel in Oaxaca BreakfastAfter breakfast, you will start our way to San Cristóbal de las Casas. The long journey gives you enough time to relax while enjoying the beautiful landscapes. After checking into your hotel you have the rest of the evening to relax or explore the city.
3* Hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas BreakfastIn the morning you will get to know the "magical town" on a guided city tour. San Cristóbal de las Casas is a beautiful combination of a modern city, old colonial town and traditions of the indigenous people. In the afternoon you are visiting the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán on a cultural tour of the Chiapas region. Wander around artisan markets and learn about ancient Mayan traditions. In Zinacantán you can watch the weaver women create beautiful fabrics with traditional handlooms. At the end of the day you will return to your hotel.
3* Hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas BreakfastYou will travel from San Cristóbal to the jungles of Palenque today. On the way, you will stop and appreciate two majestic waterfalls, the Agua Azul and Misol Ha. Agua Azul consits of countless big and small cascades falling into enchanting turquoise ponds. 30 meters from above Misol Ha falls into a wide pond which invites you to take a refreshing bath. After a swim in the crystal-clear natural pools in this area you will travel to the picturesque Palenque.
4* Hotel in Palenque BreakfastToday you will visit the Palenque Ruins, an incomparable achievement of Mayan art. The ancient city has monumental edifices and some of the largest clearings in any Mayan city. An impressive palace represents the centre of the numerous Mayan temples and constructions, many of them built between 600 and 800 AD.
You will continue your journey to Campeche City. The coastal metropole has beautiful 19th century fortifications built to defend against pirates. There are many exquisite examples of colonial architecture to visit during your stay here. Explore the most important sites on a city tour with your guide.
4* Hotel in Campeche BreakfastToday you will travel in 1st class public bus to Mérida, the bright and colorful capital of the Yucatan province. Get to know the most important sights of the city on a guided tour. Afterwards you are free to absorb the atmosphere of the Mexican city. Built on the ruins of a Mayan city, Mérida reflects nowadays the Spanish history. Take a walk along the colonial buildings and the Plaza Mayor, whose beauty increases at night due to its lighting.

Explore the Uxmal ruins which are located quite nearby, discover the beauty of the Celestun Biosphere Reserve or the subterranean rivers and lakes at Cuzamá. The extensive water system of the Yucatán region is an impressive nature spectacle. Some caves only permit access by passing steep slopes, but their beauty is totally worth it. The grottos invite you to relax or take a bath in their clear and shimmering waters.

This is the perfect time to do some last minute souvenir shopping and try more of the local Mexican street food. You may also go on an optional trip, for instance to the eco-archaeological park of Xcaret, where you can do various leisure time activities or experience the colourful aquatic life.
