Amidst this lush green backdrop lies the world-renowned Botanical Gardens, full of colorful orchids. Take some time to explore around before your tour continues on through winding mountain trails. Soon you'll get out of your jeep and be at the foot of the world's largest monolith, La Gran Piedra. This "great stone" of unexplained origins is perched on a mountain ridge and has vast proportions. Ascend up its steps and encounter the rewarding view of the Sierra Maestra Mountains along the blue Caribbean Sea. On a clear day, you can also see the coast of Haiti and Jamaica. Take in the view and enjoy your lunch. Afterward, you'll have time to browse many souvenir shops to remember your trip! From here, your tour will continue on to the coffee plantation, La Isabelica, which has been founded back in colonial times. After a fire in 1875 it went into ruins but was rebuilt as a museum in 1961. See the sleeping quarters of the slaves who formerly worked and lived on-site, along with coffee drying stations and coffee equipment to remove pulp from the beans. After this, you'll head back to Santiago de Cuba with fond memories of your day.
