Take the first day to go for a stroll and marvel at the victorian mansions. In the heart of the city, at the Central Park, you'll find two important monuments: the Teatro Melico Salazar and the Catedral Metropolitana. Don't forget to enjoy some local specialties as well: a sorbet, freshly roasted coffee or a tamale. And for some fun nightlife, be sure to check out the nearby clubs, bars and casinos, where the city really comes to life.

Excursion to Cartago
You will take the train to Cartago through picturesque landscapes of the "Cerros de la Carpintera" woodland. Since Cartago used to be the capital of Costa Rica you will find fascinating sites surrounded by beautiful scenery. Take your bike and get new perspectives: A must-see is definiteley "Basilica de los Ángeles" - the most important cathedral of Costa Rica. On the way you will already pass special sites such as the house of the former president Ricardo Jiménez Oreamuno or the ruins of Santiago Apostol, the only church in Costa Rica in Romanesque style. Moreover you will learn about the legend of the headless fahter. Discover the market and try some local delicacies! The tour ends at the Atlantic Railroad Station in San José.

Poás Volcano, Doka-Coffee Tour & La Paz Waterfalls
You start the day with a sightseeing tour of the Doka Estate coffee plantation. There you will enjoy your breakfast with a good coffee. Afterwards you will get insghts into the production of coffee - from the cultivation to the coffee roasting (including the tasting). The journey continues to Poás Volcano which has a height of 2.708 meters. Enjoy the view of the impressive main crater and discover different ecosystems of the park during a hike to the Botos lagoon. Around noon you will drive on to La Paz waterfalls. There you will get served a delicious Costa Rican lunch. Subsequently you will discover the amazing surroundings: tropical rainforest, spectacular waterfalls and endemic species of animals await you! In the late afternoon you will return back to San José.
