  Rincón de la Vieja Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes of Costa Rica, with its last eruption in May 2016! This beautiful 1900 meter high volcano is surrounded by a smoke cloud, said to be caused from an old woman cooking in local legends. The Rincón de la Vieja National Park was named a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999 from its expansive nature and diverse wildlife. This is the right place to get in touch with the unknown, fascinating animal and plant world on foot or from the back of a horse.

Today you'll arrive in Rincón de la Vieja. After settling in to your accommodation, step outside and enjoy the nature surrounding you. Today is a free day to enjoy Rincón de la Vieja as you please. Explore the national park by foot, or horseback, through the many available trails.     Oropéndola Waterfall

    Enjoy a trip to Rincón de la Vieja National Park! You will discover the beautiful landscapes on the back of a horse. Your destination: Oropéndola Waterfall - the golden pendulum. It has probably been called like this due to its great beauty. The water of the cascade plunges 25 meters. At the bottom of the waterfalls a turquoise pool opens out for a refreshing bath.

    Sector Las Pailas

    Come visit one of the most thrilling areas around Rincón de la Vieja Vulcano! There you will be able to experience its activity live: rising steam and sulphur, discoloration on the ground as well as small ponds where the water is boiling hot due to the volcano. Big bubbles of mud are exploting all around. On a 3.5 km walk inside the National Park you will learn a lot about nature. Don't miss this volcanic experience! Before heading back to your accommodation you will stop at Oropéndola Waterfalls where you will be able to refresh yourself.

    If you prefer this journey on the back of a horse, we will make this also possible for you (excl. stop at Oropéndola Waterfalls).

    La Victoria & Las Chorreras Waterfalls

    Join a trip into wonderful nature of Rincón de la Vieja National Park! The tour will take you to La Victoria Waterfall - there the "black river", Río Negro, plunges 35 meters into the depths. In the basin of the waterfall the cristal clear water is not onlya charming sight but will also give you the opportunity to refresh yourself. Furthermore on this trip you will see a second waterfall: Las Chorreras. Two adjacent rivers unite in a basin of a small ravine of volcanic rocks.

    There is also the possibilty for you participating this tour on the back of a horse.
