Our Dance Courses in Havana:

Salsa Courses

Learn the Salsa Cubana in the country where it was invented! Salsa dance classes will be held in Havana, in our dance school the "Ritmo Cubano". The Salsa developed from the Cuban musical style called the Son. The Spanish word Salsa means ‘sauce’ and reflects the variety of musical styles which have been mixed together to create it. This dance is particularly widespread in Latin America and while each country has its own salsa mix they all originate from Cuban rhythms. There are also faster variants of the Salsa within Cuba such as the Nueva Trova, which incorporates Hip Hop, Jazz, and Timba influences.

Accompanying song lyrics are usually in the style of the Spanish chant and Cuban Reggaeton in particular often contains hidden messages about socio-political issues. When you participate in our dance course in Cuba you can learn all about Reggaeton in connection with Cuba. The dance course will take place in our dance school "Ritmo Cubano" in Havana. A professional dance instructor will teach you the moves no matter what your initial skill level!

Merengue & Bachata Dance Classes

In this course you will learn both the Bachata Bolero and the Merengue at our dance school in Havana, the "Ritmo Cubano". The Bachata dance style originated in Cuba in the 1960s and the Caribbean Bolero comes from the Dominican Republic. Since that time they have come together to form a unified style. Originally, the Bolero was just a dance for couples accompanied by romantic guitar music and the Bachata was a slightly faster variation of the Bolero that borrowed elements from Merengue. The Merengue comes from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. Both the music of the Bachata Bolero and the Merengue often deal with themes of unrequited love and passion. However, Merengue music often also touches on social and political problems. Take part in our dance classes and listen for yourself!
